The core of our research lies in studying the formation and evolution of material microstructure and its relationship to macroscopic rheological properties. We employ this understanding to create materials with the desired microstructure and functional properties. We also develop novel processes, which are sustainable and scalable, for manufacturing complex phase materials.
Our research group has delivered lab-scale and pilot-scale solutions to the food, pharmaceutical, petroleum, metal-ion battery, and defense industries. The group is predominantly experimental, we also use a combination of theoretical modeling and simulations to understand the fundamental aspects of complex phase materials.

Pooja Saxena
Pooja holds a M.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Guwahati and is the recipient of the prestigious PM Fellowship. She is currently working on the problem of flow assurance of waxy crudes at low temperatures. She is working on mitigating pipe blockage issues by use of chemical additives which would serve as pour point depressants.
Ankita Jain
Ankita holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow and a Masters in Petroleum Technology from IIT Guwahati. She is working on the use of strong electric field pulses to ensure the flowability of crude oil at low temperatures in the deep offshore underwater pipelines.
Raju Singh
Raju holds a Masters in Chemistry from IIT Guwahati and has joined the group as a PhD Scholar. He is currently conducting Molecular Simulation based studies to investigate the mechanism of self assembly of polyelectrolytes driven by non-covalent interactions in the aqueous multicomponent solutions.
Pooja Verma
Pooja holds a master's degree in chemical engineering from MNIT, Jaipur and a bachelors degree from Banasthali University. She is currently working on demulsification crude oil emulsions by determining the efficacy of different demulsifiers by measuring coalesence time distribution of water oil emulsion.
Vidhya Vijayakumar
Vidhya holds a master's degree in thermal & fluids and a bachelors degree in chemical engineering. She is currently working on low-temperature demulsification of aged waxy, high water-cut crude oil emulsions. She works with analysis of interfacial dynamics and rheology of crude oil emulsions.
Rutuja Amrale
A chemical engineer, Rutuja is currently pursuing her doctoral research on studying polymer adsorption. She is implementing it to understand the crystallization of calcium carbonate in detergent water and avoiding soil re-deposition on fabric. Her study is sponsored by Dow Chemicals Pvt. Ltd.
